Frequently Asked Dentistry Questions
Got a Question?
We’re Ready to Help
Dentistry can be complicated, especially when you’re told that you need a treatment and you’ve never heard of it before or you aren’t sure if it’s right for you. That’s why we’ve answered some of the most frequently asked dentistry questions on our website for your convenience! If your question isn’t listed, please give us a call directly and we’ll do our best to help.
Do you place dental implants?
Some dentists require the placement portion of your implant treatment to be done elsewhere. Not only do we restore your dental implants with natural-looking restorations, but we effectively place the implant portion in-house so you don’t have to visit another doctor offsite just to get treatment completed! This saves you multiple trips between dental offices and makes your treatment process more personable.
Should I be visiting regularly?
We recommend that you visit our dental office at least once every six months so we can perform a detailed cleaning and examination of your oral structures. This is considered to be the most effective way to catch the early signs of problems and treat them before they turn into dental emergencies.
Can I see you for a dental emergency?
Absolutely! Not only can you see us five days a week, but we’ll make sure that you don’t leave the dental office until you are out of discomfort. Just make sure to schedule an emergency appointment as soon as possible so we can treat your issue before it worsens. If your tooth is cracked, chipped, knocked-out, or in pain, it’s considered a dental emergency.
How can I improve my smile’s appearance?
We have many cosmetic solutions at our dental office, some of which can actually help your oral health in the long-term. Hiding cosmetic cracks, chips or discolorations is easy with porcelain veneers and cosmetic bonding, while our Invisalign and Simpli5™ clear aligners can put crooked teeth into a straighter position.
Can I bring my younger family members for care?
We’re more than happy to help your youngest family members get the care they need to maintain positive oral health. Our dentists are very gentle and patient when providing dental exams, cleanings, sealants, tooth-colored fillings, and fluoride therapy. Whether it’s your child’s first appointment or they need to have an emergency issue handled, Weiss Dental Arts is glad to accommodate them.
What are CEREC crowns?
CEREC crowns refer to the technology that our dental office uses in order to create permanent crowns in a single appointment. Instead of having to wait up to two weeks to receive your new crown, you can have it designed, fabricated and placed all on the same day. This makes the technology ideal for those suffering from a sudden broken tooth or a damaged restoration that needs replacement fast.
How do I know if I have gum disease?
Gum disease can be difficult to catch on your own, which is why it’s often referred to as a “silent killer.” The best way to confirm if gum disease is present is to give our dental office a call and schedule an appointment, but if you notice your gums bleeding while brushing or chewing over the next few days, your gums feel tender or sensitive, or they appear red and inflamed, call us right away.
